It has been some time since I have updated on here. Josh and I have recently moved to West Valley City, UT from Carbondale, IL. Josh got a job at CR England here in Utah so we decided to pick up and move out here. I am currently looking for a job. I have no clue what I am going to do. There aren't many jobs here right now in Higher Ed so I am looking for anything. Hopefully something will work out soon. Maybe I will be able to find something that will allow me to be creative and possibly with food.

I will try to keep this thing update more.

Any Suggestions?

So I have just finished reading the Twilight series (and by just I mean about three weeks ago). The longer I am here the more bitter I am that I picked this place and that I have to remain here. But there are some redeaming things that make it a little easier. I have three co-workers that don't make me what to rip my hair out and my student staff is wonderful (most of the time).

As I go through the process of finding a job again this year I am reminded of how stressful it can become. The waiting came is always the hardest. Not knowing what the employers are thinking. Not knowing when it would be appropriate to contact them to see what is going on. Liking a place that does not have the best posibility for Josh to get a job. While all the time I just want it all to be over. I just want to throw a dart at a board and where ever it lands that is where I will go, and the employer will just be ok with that, if they aren't then they can throw the dart and someone will be bound to pick me.

As of now I have three on-campus invites: Old Dominion (Norfolk, VA), Webester University (STL) and SUI-Carbondale (IL). I am very excited by the prospects with all of them but I hope to make a great connection with one in particular. I am also pleased that Josh will be able to come to an interview with me. He has been able to take off work to come check out Carbondale with me. He hopes that he will be able to check out the town and areas around in hopes that job prospects will be better for him there than we currently. I'm not going to lie that school has a lot to offer me as a professional. Both PhD programs that I would like to take are there, they can be joined together, and my job will help pay for them. There are even some bonuses on the personal side. Steven and Liz currently live/work there, my bff, Josh's mom and dad, and his brother all live within 3 hours. It is also a lot warmer than Iowa, which Josh is really looking forward to.

I am trying to keep positive and healthy during this process. I know at times it will be very hard, but that is about all I can do over these next few weeks that look to be very crazy.

As I sit at my desk I see the sights of Paris

So, now I have decided to start my blog... I know this is what you have all been waiting for.
I have so much to update on since I have moved to Iowa but I am not sure I will have time to do this all right now. However, I will be doing it soon.
This post was inspired by the pictures that I have up in my office. While I was in Europe when i was in Grad school I picked up several prints from Paris and Brussels. When I got my new office here at Simpson College I noticed that I would not have any windows so I decided that these prints would be a lovely addition to my office that would create the appearance of the outdoors. So now while I am sitting at my desk I have a wonderful view of the Moulin Rouge, Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, the Arch, and the Grand Palace. Lovely distractions from the mundane work week that remind me of some of the best times of my life.
These scenes make me miss all those people that I experienced those times with. They also make me want to go back to that time. I miss the learning that I experience at that time, learning that I do not feel I am experiencing now. I crave to be around those individuals that pushed me to be more, to be better than I was. I'm not sure if those individuals knew that they had that effect on me, hell I didn't even realize that until just recently.

I must now go back to work... this post will make more sense once I start updating the events of my life since leaving Arkansas.
